This one is for SNARKY GIRL… you know who you are
There’s a snarky girl who’s been commenting on the blog. She also has Emailed me some times. She said in the Emails that she has been to Queens and she wants to know where I’ve been that I’m having such trouble. So, I send her a detailed list, against my better judgement. Read More »
Everyone seems to think money grows on trees or something
See, I was just looking through the comments again. This is why I’m thinking about shutting down the blog or something. I was just looking at the comments on the last post. While there were some nice comments, there are a bunch of snarky comments from someone anonymous. I think I know who wrote them. Read More »
HATE, Regret and mistakes- Orthodox Judaism at it’s finest
I haven’t really been blogging. I haven’t felt much like it. It seems like my blog is read by first off not so many people. Also the people who are on my side seem to have issues of their own. One of my hopes with the blog was encompassed by the guest post written by “David. Read More »
It’s very important… It’s very good..
One thing that I’ve noticed in the Orthodox Jewish community is that something can be spread like wild fire and how they do it is that prominant figures (rabbis and people with money) just go and say something is “very important” and people duh duh duh like zombies go for whatever they have told them. Veggies
Yesterday, I mentioned how to make chicken. Today, I’m talking about veggies..Take some frozen veggies (green beans, carrots, corn) out of the freezer, boil them like 10, 20 minutes. carrots should be soft, green beans dark… drain… top with butter (parve fake butter) and salt and pepper. I like to pour chicken juice on instead of butter. Read More »
Easy chicken
Since I’ve been blogging about healthy eating, I thought that I would give some instructions on quick food. I’m going to start out with easy chicken. Put it in a pan with water (I use filtered) in the bottom. Add salt, pepper or whatever to the water. Put it in the oven for an hour at 400 degrees or an hour and a half at 385. Read More »
Jewish men are so obsessed with women’s looks that make up doesn’t require a hecsher
It should. I was looking around on the internet at what make up is made of. I had always heard that eye shadow is fish scales… ok, that sounds kosher enough. However, it seems some other make ups are made of things like rust and crushed insects. Read More »
Abstract from my paper on Jewish modesty
In the Orthodox Jewish world, how a woman dresses frequently makes its way into the discussions of many Sabbath tables, blogs, lectures, books, magazine/newspaper articles and more. Read More »
Another survey, this one for a classmate
Hi, as you all know, I did a survey for my research class. Besides my own Jewish survey for women on Tznius, my classmate, a guy is doing a survey on Jewish books. It seems he still needs responses. His standard promotional schtick appears below: Hi,I’m a student working on a market research project analyzing the use of Jewish/Hebrew/Seforim books. Read More »
Hey, if everyone is working both parents full time, how do they…
How do these people drive the car pool? I mean there’s no bussing on Sundays and many legal holidays when the public schools are out but the Jews instead on having session. Seriously, HOW do they do it? I mean, the families I can think of the wife only works part time. Read More »
Should I lie about my age?
Hi, recently I was talking to a single girl who wanted to try to make me a match and she told me to lie about my age. She said she had heard this from the rabbis. After all, the men want younger… This might make a good solution to my problem. I could just shave a good 10 to 15 years off my age. Read More »
Some things guys do wrong when dating….
1. Not planning the date- So, we saw it in one of the examples in the last post. I had a guy who figured he could find a certain restaurant during chol chamoed pesach but didn’t know where it was and eventually I think I pushed him to call information or someone on his cell, we got the number and they weren’t open for chol chamoed after all. Hey! Why did HE get to marry a girl with XY and Z qualities but I can’t find?
I was just thinking about a comment and exchange on the last post where I discussed the column that Hamodia did a Houdini with, “Single As a Dollar Bill.” Yankel said that it’s unreasonable that men are expecting what they won’t be able to find and perhaps, he posited, they can find it. Read More »
Single As a Dollar Bill: Hamodia tries to capture the readership of older singles
I had heard about this column. I read about on someone’s blog somewhere. A couple weeks ago I was at someone’s house and I saw their piles Hamodia magazines laying out. On the cover I saw, “SINGLE AS A DOLLAR BILL by popular demand -now a weekly column. Read More »
To school or not to school… that is the question….
You may recall this guest post that my friend Michelle wrote. Her oldest daughter is 4 so, she has been looking into schools and trying to make a final decision about this. Thus, she and I have been discussing the various schools that she has visited and how THRILLED (cough, cough, NOT) she is with them. Read More »
Three Questions

He’d like a Jewish gym rat health nut, please….
I started a discussion on Frumster in the message board after noticing that several men requested things like a woman who is, “trying to being conscious about her health and her appearance.” The men were defensive (nope, no surprise there) and at least one woman agreed with me. My latest comment follows. Read More »
Chaim 1
I just thought I would take a minute to address some of the comments the rather obnoxious Chaim 1 has submitted in the last month… First, he says that I don’t get responses on my blog and Rabbi Maryles does because I moderate… ummm, actually I only moderate you, Chaim. Read More »
Priviledge
I wanted to take a second to mention priviledge. It’s something with which most American Jews nowadays were born and raised. There was a time in the generation of our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents when Jews struggled and worked several jobs. They took whatever jobs they could find and they were greatful to work. Read More »
shiur vs. class….
As the snow was starting to fall last night, I was standing at the bus stop looking at a sign for a shiur that took place last night. Some shul in the area was talking about kashrut FAQs. So, I was looking at the sign and I was thinking about how they were calling it a shiur. Read More »
